Regional Expansion
This article discusses the addition of hibernation support for EC2 Auto Scaling Warm Pools in the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. Warm Pools allow customers to scale out faster by maintaining a pre-initialized pool of EC2 instances.
Specifically, the article covers:
- Warm Pools allow faster scaling for applications with time-consuming initialization steps
- Hibernation support enables preserving memory state for Warm Pool instances
- Customers can now set Warm Pool instances to Hibernated state, in addition to Stopped and Running
- Hibernation is supported through AWS SDKs, CLI, and CloudFormation, but with some limitations on instance types and operating systems
