Introducing Amazon MWAA micro environments for Apache Airflow

AWS has introduced the mw1.micro environment class for Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (MWAA), providing a cost-effective solution for lightweight Airflow environments.

  • Features of mw1.micro environment:
    • 1 vCPU and 3GB RAM for scheduler/worker hybrid container
    • 1 vCPU and 3GB RAM for web server
    • Supports up to 3 concurrent tasks
    • Accommodates up to 25 DAGs
  • Key benefits:
    • More affordable for development and testing
    • Supports custom plugins and requirements
    • Fully functional Airflow UI
    • Same networking features as other MWAA environments
  • Considerations:
    • Single scheduler/worker container
    • Single web server task
    • Maximum of 3 concurrent Airflow tasks

The new micro environment class is designed for small-scale data processing, proof-of-concept projects, and teams requiring isolated, cost-effective Airflow environments.
