Amazon Redshift announces support for Confluent Cloud and Apache Kafka

Amazon Redshift has expanded its streaming ingestion capabilities to support Confluent Cloud and Apache Kafka, providing more flexibility in data pipeline development.

  • Now supports streaming ingestion from Confluent Managed Cloud and self-managed Apache Kafka clusters on Amazon EC2
  • Introduces mTLS (mutual Transport Layer Security) for secure communication between Redshift and Kafka sources
  • Added a new SQL identifier 'KAFKA' to simplify external schema definitions
  • Enables data ingestion from AWS, partner, and self-managed Kafka sources
  • Expands beyond previous support for Amazon Kinesis Data Streams and Amazon MSK

This update provides customers with more comprehensive and flexible options for streaming data into Amazon Redshift data warehouses.
