Amazon Redshift has expanded its streaming ingestion capabilities to support Confluent Cloud and Apache Kafka, providing more flexibility in data pipeline development.
- Now supports streaming ingestion from Confluent Managed Cloud and self-managed Apache Kafka clusters on Amazon EC2
- Introduces mTLS (mutual Transport Layer Security) for secure communication between Redshift and Kafka sources
- Added a new SQL identifier 'KAFKA' to simplify external schema definitions
- Enables data ingestion from AWS, partner, and self-managed Kafka sources
- Expands beyond previous support for Amazon Kinesis Data Streams and Amazon MSK
