Amazon DocumentDB has introduced NVMe-backed R6gd Instances, offering significant performance improvements for large dataset applications.
- Up to 7x faster query performance compared to regular instances
- Leverages local NVMe-based SSD storage for ephemeral data
- Reduces network storage access and improves read latency
- Caches database pages evicted from memory on local NVMe storage
- Reduces query latency for sorting operations by up to 2x
- Available for DocumentDB V5.0 on Standard and IO-Optimized cluster storage
These new instances can be accessed through AWS Management Console, CLI, and SDK by modifying existing clusters or creating new ones with R6gd instances.
