AWS Security Token Service (AWS STS) has enhanced its global endpoint functionality to improve performance and resiliency for users.
- STS global endpoint now serves requests locally in the same AWS Region as deployed workloads
- Previously, all global endpoint requests were routed through US East (N. Virginia)
- Provides improved latency and fault isolation for applications
- Change applies to all AWS Regions enabled by default
- No customer action required to benefit from the enhancement
- Opt-in Regions will continue to be served from US East (N. Virginia)
AWS recommends using regional STS endpoints when possible for optimal performance and reliability.
