Amazon IVS Low-Latency Streaming now provides a failover slate

News

Amazon IVS Low-Latency Streaming now provides a failover slate, an animated image displayed to viewers when a broadcaster's stream is unexpectedly interrupted.

  • Failover slate replaces buffering wheels or frozen frames during stream interruptions
  • Live playback resumes automatically without requiring viewers to refresh their player
  • Ideal for broadcasters streaming from mobile devices or unreliable connectivity locations
  • Can be enabled on new or existing channels
  • Monitor slate activity using Amazon EventBridge events and CloudWatch metrics

The failover slate feature helps broadcasters retain audiences during momentary disruptions and improves viewer experience during connectivity issues.
