Publishing LMS courses with a Kiro SCORM pipeline
Architecture Blog
This article demonstrates how to use Kiro, an agentic AI tool with IDE and CLI, to automate conversion of raw training material into SCORM-compliant LMS packages.
- Kiro automates six-step pipeline: add source material, plan course structure, author lessons, lint for errors, build SCORM package, and validate output
- Uses Steering (persistent context), Specs (formalized processes), and Hooks (automated triggers) to structure the development workflow
- Course manifest (course.yaml) declares modules, source material, and SCORM configuration including passing scores and page dwell time
- Hooks automate repetitive tasks like linting on save and validating packages upon creation
- Authors place raw training materials in course folders and request Kiro to build, receiving upload-ready SCORM 1.2 .zip files
- Pipeline runs entirely locally with no cloud resources required; includes local preview and LMS upload verification steps
Kiro enables course authors to focus on content while automating SCORM packaging complexity through version-controlled, reusable pipeline expertise.
