Amazon ElastiCache for Valkey now supports changing durability on existing clusters
News
Amazon ElastiCache for Valkey now supports changing durability settings on existing node-based clusters without creating new clusters, enabling flexible adaptation to changing application requirements.
- Enable or disable durability on existing clusters in place without recreation
- Synchronous writes persist data across two AZs with zero data loss at single-digit millisecond latency
- Asynchronous writes maintain microsecond latency at no cost with up to 10 seconds potential data loss
- Both options preserve microsecond read latency
- Supports use cases like AI agent memory, RAG knowledge bases, payment tokenization, and inventory management
- Available in all AWS Regions with ElastiCache for Valkey 9.0 and later
This enhancement enables ElastiCache to serve persistent data store use cases beyond traditional caching where data durability is critical.
