Create larger SPICE datasets and refresh data faster in Amazon QuickSight with new SPICE features

Blog

AWS QuickSight has introduced two major enhancements to its SPICE (Super-fast, Parallel, In-memory Calculation Engine) data store:

  • Incremental refresh capability, allowing data updates every 15 minutes
  • Increased dataset capacity from 250 million to 500 million rows
  • Support for incremental refresh on SQL-based data sources like Amazon Redshift, Athena, and Snowflake
  • Ability to configure a look-back window for targeted data updates
  • Option to schedule periodic incremental or full dataset refreshes

These new features enable faster, more reliable data refreshes and allow organizations to create larger, more scalable datasets with reduced resource consumption and simplified setup.
