Amazon EKS increases pod density limits for Windows containers

News

This article announces that Amazon EKS now supports higher pod density for Windows containers using IPv4 prefix delegation mode.

  • IPv4 prefix delegation expands secondary IPv4 addresses by up to 16x per ENI
  • Windows Server nodes can now run up to 250 pods depending on instance type
  • Prefix delegation assigns /28 IPv4 prefixes (16 IP addresses) per node
  • Feature available in all public AWS regions and AWS GovCloud (US)

This enhancement allows customers to significantly increase Windows pod density on Amazon EKS nodes, improving resource utilization and reducing infrastructure costs.
