Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports replicas for Single-tenant instances

This article announces that Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports read and mounted replicas for single-tenant multitenant container database (CDB) instances.
- Read replicas use Oracle Active Data Guard to offload read workloads from primary instances
- Mounted replicas available without Active Data Guard licensing requirement
- Replicas can be created in same or different AWS regions
- Up to five read replicas supported per primary instance
- Replicas can be promoted to standalone databases for disaster recovery
- Data Guard Switchover supported for disaster recovery testing
- Available for Oracle Database Enterprise Edition versions 19c and 21c
- Read replicas billed at standard DB instance rates
RDS for Oracle customers can now use replicas to improve availability, scale read workloads, and simplify disaster recovery operations.
