  • EMR Studio workspaces can now apply table and column-level access control using AWS Lake Formation
  • Users can select runtime IAM roles to connect to EMR clusters with customized data access permissions
  • Multiple users can share the same EMR cluster with isolated, role-scoped sessions
  • Reduces operational overhead and costs for interactive EMR use cases
  • Generally available for EMR on EC2 release versions 6.11+ across all supported regions

This enhancement enables secure, multi-user access to shared EMR clusters with granular data permissions managed through Lake Formation.
