Announcing AWS Global Accelerator IPv6 support for Amazon EC2 endpoints

Blog

This article announces AWS Global Accelerator now supports dual-stack (IPv4 and IPv6) routing to Amazon EC2 instances as endpoints.

  • Route both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic to EC2 instances using dual-stack accelerators
  • Dual-stack accelerators provide two static IPv4 and two static IPv6 addresses
  • Support for UDPv6 traffic enables custom routing use cases like gaming and VoIP
  • No additional cost for IPv6 support
  • EC2 endpoints must have a primary IPv6 address to be added
  • Create new dual-stack accelerators or update existing ones to dual-stack
  • All endpoints must be dual-stack to upgrade an existing accelerator

AWS Global Accelerator now enables seamless dual-stack networking for EC2 endpoints, supporting both IPv4 and IPv6 clients without additional costs or application logic changes.
