Simplify multicloud data movement wherever data is stored with AWS DataSync
Blog
This article explains how AWS DataSync simplifies multicloud data movement between AWS and other cloud providers' storage services.
- DataSync now supports Google Cloud Storage, Azure, DigitalOcean Spaces, Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2, and Oracle Cloud
- Deploy and activate a DataSync agent to connect to other clouds' storage endpoints
- Create DataSync locations for source cloud storage, then configure tasks for data transfer
- Azure Blob Storage requires a dedicated location type; other clouds use S3-compatible endpoints
- Consider object tag support, storage classes, and egress charges when planning transfers
- Enhanced mode (May 2025) removes agent requirement for cross-cloud transfers with improved performance
AWS DataSync automates multicloud data transfers, enabling customers to move data between AWS and other clouds efficiently for migrations, archiving, and business workflows.
