You can now scale IOPS separately from storage on Amazon FSx for Windows File Server
News
This article announces that Amazon FSx for Windows File Server now allows independent scaling of IOPS from storage capacity, enabling better cost optimization for performance-intensive workloads.
- IOPS can now be configured separately from storage capacity during creation or anytime later
- Supports up to 500 IOPS per GiB, previously fixed at 3 IOPS per GiB ratio
- Ideal for IOPS-intensive workloads like SQL Server databases and VDI
- IOPS updates complete in minutes without downtime
- Available for new and existing file systems across all AWS regions
This enhancement enables customers to optimize costs for variable IOPS workloads and improve performance for storage-light, IOPS-heavy applications.
