AWS has announced AWS Dedicated Local Zones, a new infrastructure option designed to help customers in public sector and regulated industries meet data sovereignty and compliance requirements.
- Dedicated Local Zones are fully managed AWS infrastructure exclusively for a specific customer or community
- Placed in customer-specified locations to comply with regulatory requirements
- Offer additional security and governance features like data access monitoring and audit programs
- Provide consistent AWS services and tools with enhanced data isolation
- First customer is the Singapore Government's Smart Nation and Digital Government Group
This announcement is part of AWS's Digital Sovereignty Pledge, aimed at giving customers more control over their cloud infrastructure while maintaining AWS's comprehensive cloud capabilities.
