- PostgreSQL 16 RC1 now available for evaluation in RDS Preview Environment
- Supports logical decoding on read replicas and AWS-LC encryption
- Includes 80+ PostgreSQL extensions: pgvector, pg_tle, h3-pg, pg_cron, rdkit
- PostgreSQL 16 adds SQL/JSON constructors, identity functions, query parallelism
- Introduces SIMD CPU acceleration and pg_stat_io view for I/O statistics
- Preview instances retained maximum 60 days, then auto-deleted
- Snapshots limited to Preview Environment use only
- Priced same as production RDS instances in US East (Ohio)
