Announcing the new Amazon EFS Archive storage class
News
Amazon has announced a new, cost-effective storage class called EFS Archive for Amazon Elastic File System (EFS). This storage class is optimized for long-lived file data that is accessed infrequently, a few times a year or less.
Specifically, the article covers:
- EFS Archive offers a cost-effective way to retain cold data while keeping it accessible with the same performance and durability as other EFS storage classes.
- The existing EFS Infrequent Access (IA) storage class has received a 36% price reduction, making EFS more cost-effective for a wide range of data sharing use cases.
- EFS now supports intelligent tiering across Standard, IA, and Archive storage classes, automatically optimizing costs based on data access patterns.
- EFS Archive is available immediately for file systems using the Elastic Throughput mode, in all commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
- Customers can enable Lifecycle Management for EFS Archive using the AWS Management Console, API, or CLI.
