AWS Application Discovery Service adds storage monitoring for VMware

News

The article announces a new capability of AWS Application Discovery Service to monitor the free disk space of virtual machines running on VMware vCenter 7.0 or newer. This data can help predict the required storage size when migrating virtual machines to Amazon EC2.

Specifically, the article covers:

  • The AWS Application Discovery Service Agentless Collector can now monitor the free disk space of VMware virtual machines.
  • The free disk space data is made available in AWS Migration Hub to evaluate the ideal Amazon EBS size for each virtual machine after migrating to Amazon EC2.
  • This allows users to provision only the required storage size on AWS, while still having the flexibility to change the volume size later if needed.
  • The Agentless Collector can send data to all AWS Regions where AWS Application Discovery Service is available.
