AWS Signer launches signing container images in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

Regional Expansion

AWS Signer, a managed signing service, is now available in the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. This service allows you to sign and verify container images in registries such as Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR) to ensure that only approved images are deployed to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters or are in use in Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) clusters.

Specifically, the article covers:

  • AWS Signer can sign and verify container images during development or deployment phases
  • You can create unique signing identities to cryptographically sign images in your repository
  • AWS Signer manages signing keys, rotates code signing certificates, provides audit logs, and stores signatures
  • EKS and Kubernetes customers can use policy solutions like Gatekeeper or Kyverno to verify images
  • AWS Signer is offered at no additional charge, and documentation and blogs are available for using it with ECS and EKS
