Centrally manage member account root email addresses across your AWS Organization

This article discusses a new feature from AWS that allows customers using AWS Organizations to centrally manage the root email addresses of member accounts across their organization.

Specifically, the article covers:

  • Previously, customers had to log in as root to each member account to update the root email address
  • Now, customers can use the AWS CLI, SDK, or Organizations console to update the root email address of member accounts from the management account or delegated administrator
  • This allows customers to manage root email addresses at scale across their organization
  • Customers must verify new root email addresses using a one-time password to ensure accuracy
  • This new capability is available at no additional charge in all AWS commercial and China regions
