Amazon RDS Blue/Green Deployments now supports storage volume shrinkage for RDS database instances, providing more flexible storage management.
- Enables increasing or decreasing storage volume sizes based on application demands
- Eliminates previous manual migration process that caused extended downtime
- Creates a fully managed staging environment (Green databases) with specified storage size
- Can promote Green databases to production in as little as one minute
- Supports PostgreSQL (v12+), MySQL (v5.7+), and MariaDB (v10.4+)
- Can be configured through Amazon RDS Console with just a few clicks
This feature simplifies database storage management and reduces operational complexity for database administrators.
