Amazon API Gateway now supports custom domain names for private REST APIs, offering several key benefits:

  • Enables user-friendly private DNS names like private.example.com
  • Maintains encryption of private API traffic using TLS
  • Provides full control over TLS certificate lifecycle
  • Supports domain configuration in four simple steps
  • Allows optional cross-account domain sharing via AWS Resource Access Manager

The feature is now available in all AWS Regions, including AWS GovCloud (US), simplifying API discovery and management while maintaining strong security controls.
