Amazon QuickSight has introduced a new feature called Layer Maps, which allows users to create custom shape maps with unique geographic boundaries for data visualization.

  • Users can upload GeoJSON files to create custom shape layers on maps
  • Supports visualizing data across custom regions like congressional districts or sales territories
  • Offers multiple styling options for map layers, including fill color and border customization
  • Can map data using dimensions or aggregated measures
  • Supports file sizes up to 100 MB for GeoJSON uploads

The new feature enables more flexible and detailed geospatial data analysis, allowing businesses to create more targeted and meaningful visual representations of their data across different geographic boundaries.
