Amazon EKS introduces Node Health Monitoring and Auto-Repair, a new feature designed to improve Kubernetes cluster reliability and reduce operational overhead.
- Continuously monitors EC2 instances (nodes) in EKS clusters for Kubernetes-specific health issues
- Automatically detects and replaces unhealthy nodes
- Can be enabled by installing the EKS node monitoring agent add-on
- Configurable through EKS managed node group APIs or AWS Console
- Available at no additional cost in most AWS Regions
- EKS Auto Mode comes with monitoring and auto-repair enabled by default
This feature helps improve application availability and simplifies cluster infrastructure maintenance by automatically handling node health issues.
