Introducing token-based access to Ethereum node APIs on Amazon Managed Blockchain

Blog

AWS Managed Blockchain for Ethereum has introduced token-based access to Ethereum node APIs, providing an alternative to the existing Signature Version 4 (SigV4) authentication method.

  • New "Accessor" tokens enable easier access to Ethereum nodes using HTTPs and WebSocket endpoints
  • Improves interoperability with developer tools like Ethers.js, HardHat, and MetaMask
  • SigV4 remains recommended for production applications, while Accessors are ideal for local development
  • Requires AWS CLI to create an Accessor and generate a billing token
  • Supports connection to public Ethereum networks including Mainnet and Goerli testnet

This new method simplifies blockchain node access and reduces the need for middleware or custom proxies when interacting with Ethereum nodes.
