AWS has announced the launch of its first infrastructure Region in Thailand, the AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region, featuring three Availability Zones under the API name `ap-southeast-7`.
- This is the 14th AWS Region in Asia Pacific
- Supports Thailand's digital transformation goals under the Thailand 4.0 initiative
- Estimated to contribute $10B to Thailand's GDP over 15 years
- Will support local businesses, startups, government agencies, and educational institutions
- Offers data residency within Thailand
AWS has been building its presence in Thailand since 2013, with investments in services like CloudFront, AWS Outposts, Local Zones, and Direct Connect. The company has also trained over 50,000 individuals in cloud skills and supports local innovation through educational and sustainability initiatives.
