Amazon Redshift announces enhanced default security configurations for new warehouses
News
Amazon Redshift is introducing enhanced default security configurations for new data warehouses to improve data protection and reduce misconfiguration risks.
- Public accessibility is now disabled by default for new provisioned clusters
- Database encryption is automatically enabled using AWS-owned keys
- Secure, encrypted connections are now enforced by default
- A new default parameter group "default.redshift-2.0" requires SSL connections
- Changes apply to all AWS regions where Redshift is available
Users are advised to review their warehouse creation configurations and scripts to align with these new security defaults. Existing data warehouses remain unaffected, and users can still modify settings as needed.
