AWS has announced the general availability of the F2.6xlarge, a new Amazon EC2 F2 instance size designed for FPGA-accelerated computing.
- Features 1 FPGA, compared to existing F2 instances with 4-8 FPGAs
- Ideal for genomics, multimedia processing, big data, and network acceleration
- Includes a 3rd generation AMD EPYC processor with 24 vCPUs
- Offers 256 GB of system memory and 950 GB of NVMe SSD local storage
- Provides a lower-cost entry point for FPGA computing
- First FPGA with 16 GB of high bandwidth memory (HBM)
Initially available in US East (N. Virginia), Europe (London), and US West (Oregon) regions, the F2.6xlarge provides a more flexible FPGA computing option.
