Amazon GameLift achieves 100 million concurrently connected users per game
AWS for Games Blog
Amazon GameLift has demonstrated unprecedented scalability by benchmarking support for 100 million concurrent users (CCU) in a single game, with the ability to add 100,000 players per second and spin up 9,000 new compute instances each minute.
- Current most popular games top out around 14 million CCU
- Tested scaling capabilities across 14 global AWS Regions
- Can deploy up to 91,000 VMs to support massive game launches
- Demonstrated ability to create over 1,112 game sessions per second
- Supports multiple game scenarios from battle royale to fighting games
The key findings highlight that concurrent user count is just one factor in game infrastructure scaling, with game session allocation speed and VM deployment being critical for successful large-scale game launches.
