Benchmark Education accelerates grading and boosts student feedback with generative AI on AWS

Benchmark Education developed a generative AI grading tool in partnership with AWS to help K-12 teachers save time grading open-ended assignments while maintaining accuracy and trust.

• Previously, 10-12% of open-ended tests were not being graded due to time constraints
• Built using Amazon Bedrock, the tool suggests grades and provides detailed feedback
• Teachers remain in control, able to accept or modify AI-generated grades
• In initial deployment, 73.5% of AI-suggested grades were accepted by teachers
• Reduced ungraded responses from 10-12% to 9%
• Allows teachers to reinvest time into personalized student instruction

The solution provides faster feedback to students and helps teachers quickly identify areas where students need additional support.
