BMW Group developed the Shop Floor Business Intelligence (SFBI) initiative to empower process leaders in creating and managing digital dashboards for automotive production monitoring.

  • Challenges included complex dashboard creation, siloed production data, and inconsistent KPI calculations
  • Amazon QuickSight was selected for its ease of use, embedding capabilities, and cost-effectiveness
  • Solution leverages AWS analytics services like Amazon Athena, AWS Glue, and Snowflake
  • Uses Apache Iceberg tables for efficient data management and near real-time data ingestion
  • Enables process leaders to create dashboards without IT involvement
