Announcing CDK Garbage Collection
DevOps & Developer Productivity Blog
AWS has announced the preview release of CDK Garbage Collection, a new feature in AWS CDK version 2.165.0 designed to automatically clean up unused assets in bootstrapped S3 buckets and ECR repositories.
- Automatically identifies and deletes isolated or unused CDK assets
- Helps developers save on storage costs
- Provides customizable parameters like rollback-buffer-days and created-buffer-days
- Accessible via the new CLI command `cdk gc`
- Currently in preview mode, requires `--unstable=gc` flag
The feature aims to help CDK users manage asset lifecycles more efficiently, reducing unnecessary storage and simplifying infrastructure maintenance. Users are encouraged to provide feedback and incorporate it into their workflows.
