Unlock higher performance for file system workloads with scalable metadata performance on Amazon FSx for Lustre

Storage Blog

AWS has introduced a new scalable metadata performance feature for Amazon FSx for Lustre, enabling higher performance for file system workloads with metadata-intensive applications.

  • Allows users to increase available metadata IOPS up to 15x, independent of storage provisioned
  • Supports two metadata performance modes: Automatic and User-Provisioned
  • Ideal for workloads like machine learning, Electronic Design Automation, and financial analytics
  • Enables up to 192,000 metadata IOPS compared to previous automatic limits
  • Provides new CloudWatch metrics for detailed metadata operation monitoring

This feature allows organizations to consolidate workloads on a single file system, scale performance more flexibly, and optimize resource usage by decoupling metadata performance from storage capacity.
