AWS has announced a preview of new Outposts racks designed for high-performance, network-intensive workloads, specifically targeting telecom service providers.
- Features 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) bare metal instances
- Includes high-performance bare metal network fabric
- Optimized for 5G workloads like User Plane Function (UPF) and Radio Access Network (CU)
- Supports Amazon EKS for automated deployment and scaling of network microservices
- Provides consistent AWS infrastructure and tools across on-premises and cloud environments
The preview is available in multiple regions, including US East, US West, Europe, and Asia Pacific, enabling telcos to extend AWS infrastructure to their on-premises locations with low latency and high throughput.
