Amazon S3 Tables add Apache Iceberg REST Catalog APIs

Amazon has added Apache Iceberg REST Catalog APIs to S3 Tables, enabling easier table management and compatibility with Iceberg-based applications.

  • New APIs allow creating, updating, listing, and deleting tables in S3 table buckets
  • Compatible with custom catalog implementations and APN partner catalogs
  • Supports basic read and write access to tabular data
  • Can be used with SageMaker Lakehouse for unified data management
  • Available in all AWS Regions at no additional cost

This enhancement simplifies table management and improves interoperability for data professionals using Apache Iceberg and AWS S3 Tables.
