Amazon has released Corretto 24, a free, multi-platform distribution of OpenJDK with several notable experimental features.
- Generational Shenandoah garbage collector for improved throughput and memory utilization
- Compact Object Headers reducing memory overhead on 64-bit architectures
- Ahead-of-Time Class Loading to improve application startup time
- Synchronize Virtual Threads without Pinning to enhance thread management
- Quantum-Resistant Encryption mechanisms for future security
Corretto 24 is a production-ready OpenJDK release supported through October 2025, available for download from the Corretto home page and Linux repositories.
