Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP now supports ONTAP Autonomous Ransomware Protection (ARP), a proactive cybersecurity feature for file systems.
- ARP monitors file system access patterns for suspicious activity
- Detects potential ransomware attacks by analyzing: • Changes in data randomness • Unusual file extensions • Surges in encrypted data volume
- Automatically creates snapshots when potential threats are detected
- Generates alerts via EMS messages, ONTAP CLI, and REST API
- Available at no additional cost in all AWS Regions where FSx for ONTAP is supported
The feature aims to enhance data protection and maintain business continuity by providing proactive ransomware defense for critical storage systems.
