Amazon SageMaker Lakehouse now supports attribute-based access control

Big Data Blog

AWS has announced that Amazon SageMaker Lakehouse now supports attribute-based access control (ABAC) with AWS Lake Formation, enabling more flexible and dynamic data access management.

  • ABAC allows organizations to create access control policies based on user attributes like department, region, and role
  • Provides more flexible and nuanced access policies compared to traditional role-based access control
  • Enables administrators to grant permissions dynamically without creating multiple rigid roles
  • Supports fine-grained access control across various AWS analytics services like Athena, Redshift, and EMR
  • Users can be granted or restricted access based on their assigned attributes

The new feature simplifies data access management by allowing organizations to define and modify access permissions more efficiently using user attributes, improving scalability and administrative flexibility.
