AWS Backup enhances Amazon EC2 restores with custom volume configuration support

AWS Backup has introduced enhanced Amazon EC2 restore capabilities that provide users with greater flexibility in volume configuration during restoration.
- Allows customization of Amazon EBS volume settings during restore
- Users can specify volume type, size, IOPS, and AWS KMS encryption keys
- Works with standard and logically air-gapped backup vaults
- Accessible through AWS Backup CLI and SDK
- Can add or modify volume configurations using block device mappings
- Applies to both existing and new EC2 backups
- Available in all commercial AWS Backup regions at no extra cost
This feature provides more control and flexibility for users during EC2 instance restoration, enabling more precise backup and recovery strategies.
