Introducing Upgraded Build Instances on Amplify Hosting
Front-End Web & Mobile Blog
AWS Amplify Hosting has introduced customizable build instances to address challenges with fixed-size build environments for web application development.
- New build instance sizes: Large (8 vCPUs, 16 GiB memory) and XLarge (36 vCPUs, 72 GiB memory)
- Solves issues of increased build times and memory constraints for complex applications
- Allows developers to select computing resources matching their specific application needs
- Can be configured during app creation or updated for existing applications
- Demonstrates solution using a Next.js application with memory-intensive build processes
The upgrade enables more predictable build performance by eliminating resource constraints and providing flexible computational resources for diverse development workloads.
