Amazon EKS Pod Identity introduces a new method for simplifying cross-account AWS resource access for applications running in Kubernetes clusters.
- Enables seamless configuration of application permissions across different AWS accounts
- Allows configuring access by providing resource account's IAM details during Pod Identity association
- Supports IAM role chaining to automatically obtain cross-account temporary credentials
- Requires two IAM roles: an EKS Pod Identity role and a target IAM role from the resource account
- Applications can access AWS resources without code changes
- Available in all AWS Regions with Amazon EKS support
