AWS DMS Schema Conversion introduces Virtual Mode
News
AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) Schema Conversion has introduced Virtual Mode for Data providers, a new feature that allows schema assessment and conversion without directly connecting to target database instances.
- Enables schema evaluation and conversion before provisioning infrastructure
- Helps plan database migrations by assessing compatibility and generating reports
- Supports seamless switching between virtual and real Data providers
- Compatible with multiple target databases including Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, MySQL, Db2, and Redshift
- Available in all AWS Regions where DMS Schema Conversion is supported
- No additional charge for the feature
Virtual Mode reduces infrastructure costs and simplifies migration planning by allowing comprehensive schema assessment without setting up actual database environments.
