AWS has announced version 2 of Powertools for AWS Lambda (Java), a developer toolkit that helps implement serverless best practices with significant improvements and new features.

  • Updated core utilities for logging, metrics, and tracing
  • GraalVM native image support reducing Lambda cold start times by up to 75.61%
  • New Kafka utility for integrating with Amazon MSK and self-managed Kafka event sources
  • Supports structured logging, custom metrics, and distributed tracing
  • Compatible with Java 11 and newer versions

The toolkit provides developers with tools to build more observable, performant, and efficient serverless applications in Java, with easy integration via Maven and Gradle.
