Amazon RDS now supports Cumulative Update CU20 for Microsoft SQL Server 2022, and General Distribution Releases for Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Amazon RDS now supports new updates for Microsoft SQL Server across multiple versions:

  • SQL Server 2022: Cumulative Update CU20 (version 16.00.4205.1.v1)
  • SQL Server 2016 SP3: General Distribution Release (version 13.00.6460.7.v1)
  • SQL Server 2017: General Distribution Release (version 14.00.3495.9.v1)
  • SQL Server 2019: General Distribution Release (version 15.00.4435.7.v1)

Key highlights of the update:

  • Addresses security vulnerabilities CVE-2025-49717, CVE-2025-49718, and CVE-2025-49719
  • Includes security fixes, performance improvements, and bug fixes
  • Available in all AWS regions
  • Recommended to upgrade via RDS Management Console, AWS SDK, or CLI
