Amazon EKS adds safety control to prevent accidental cluster deletion

Amazon EKS has introduced a new deletion protection feature for Kubernetes clusters to prevent accidental termination:

• Deletion protection is optional and off by default for new and existing clusters
• When enabled, users must explicitly disable protection before deleting a cluster
• Prevents unintended deletions through AWS Management Console, EKS APIs, AWS CLI, eksctl, and infrastructure as code tools
• Provides an additional safety control for critical environments with shared cluster management
• Available in all commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

This feature adds an extra layer of protection against accidental cluster deletions, helping organizations maintain their Kubernetes infrastructure more securely.
