This AWS Weekly Roundup highlights several key technology updates and launches from the week:

  • OpenAI open weight models (gpt-oss-120b and gpt-oss-20b) are now available on AWS, excelling in coding, scientific analysis, and mathematical reasoning
  • Amazon Elastic VMware Service (Amazon EVS) is now generally available, allowing VMware Cloud Foundation environments to run directly in Amazon VPC
  • Amazon Bedrock introduced Automated Reasoning checks to validate AI-generated content accuracy and prevent hallucinations
  • Amazon Application Recovery Controller (ARC) Region switch was announced for multi-region application recovery
  • Additional updates include Amazon SQS increasing message payload size, AWS Lambda supporting GitHub Actions, and DynamoDB adding Console-to-Code feature
