Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports Kerberos authentication with self-managed Microsoft Active Directory, providing new flexibility for database authentication.
- Previously, Kerberos authentication required AWS Managed AD
- Now customers can use their own self-managed Active Directory for authentication
- Simplifies migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to Amazon RDS
- Removes requirement to adopt Amazon Managed AD for Kerberos authentication
- Available in all AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions
The feature allows more seamless integration of RDS for SQL Server with existing Active Directory infrastructure, providing customers greater authentication flexibility.
