Introducing Local Device Emulator for Verbatim Circuits on Amazon Braket

Quantum Computing Blog

AWS has introduced a Local Device Emulator for Amazon Braket, a tool designed to help quantum computing developers validate and test verbatim circuits before running them on actual quantum hardware.

  • Enables emulation of circuits based on device calibration data
  • Helps catch potential compatibility issues early in development
  • Applies depolarizing noise to gates to simulate real quantum hardware conditions
  • Can be instantiated directly from AWS devices or device properties
  • Validates circuit constraints like qubit indices, native gates, and device topology

The local emulator provides developers with a way to predict circuit behavior, test noise-aware algorithms, and reduce unnecessary costs by catching issues before running on actual quantum hardware.
