AWS has announced improvements to Amazon Q Developer in Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio, enhancing AI assistance for data scientists and data engineers:
- Integration with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers in Jupyter notebooks
- Awareness of project resources including data, compute, and code
- Personalized assistance for data engineering and machine learning development
- Enhanced capabilities for code refactoring, file modification, and troubleshooting
- Available at no additional cost with Amazon Q Developer Free Tier
The new features aim to help developers set up integrated development environments more efficiently and provide transparent AI assistance across AWS regions where SageMaker Unified Studio is available.
